We’re working with a mental health charity in South London which offers a lovely working environment, with a hybrid working pattern.
As Philanthropy Manager (Major Gifts) you will be forging and cementing incredible relationships with significant supporters, whilst working with them and their networks to secure additional donations to the charity. You will build and develop relationships that will heavily impact the success of the Appeal whilst ensuring we are embedding a committed level of support to the charity for future projects and ambitions.
Key responsibilities:
To cultivate and secure new potential high-value donors, engaging them with the Charity and our Appeal with a focus on securing five and six figure donations in line with our ambitious targets.
Lead on the recruitment of senior volunteers /influencers to identify potential donors, open new networks of support and ensure the most effective approaches are made to secure philanthropic funds, working closely with other colleagues such as Philanthropy Manager (Trusts) to convert funding.
To produce compelling and engaging proposals – in person, over video calls, and in writing.
To contribute to the development of the annual Gala programme, working closely with the Director of Fundraising & Communications and Senior Philanthropy & Partnerships Manager to ensure that a core group of engaged external supporters are in place to maximise fundraising potential regards table sales, sponsorship and prize sourcing.
To develop strong working relationships with teams across the charity including Grants and Arts to drive new funding opportunities, integrate fundraising activities and enhance the supporter journey.
Line manage the Philanthropy & Special Events Officer.
To do this the right candidate will have the following skills and experience -
Successful track record in securing financial contributions from high-value audiences
Proven experience of working with senior volunteers, influencers or advisers to achieve fundraising success either in peer-led fundraising (such as development boards) or peer-to-peer fundraising (such as giving circles) or by working in partnership with senior stakeholders on individual approaches including philanthropy advisers
Demonstrable success in converting prospects to donors, personally securing donations from private individuals of £50,000+
Excellent relationship management and rapport-building skills
Exceptional written communication skills with the ability to create high quality content for a range of audiences
Solid knowledge of Institute of Fundraising (IoF) fundraising policies and procedures, including compliance with Fundraising Regulator rules and regulations
Ability to establish, build and maintain relationships with people at all levels and from a variety of backgrounds, both externally and within the charity
Ability to give and receive feedback objectively and sensitively and willingness to challenge constructively.
